  • What is LEEP America?
LEEP America (Latino Educational Equity Partnership) is a leadership development program designed to empower educators and leaders committed to creating equitable, high-impact change in education.
  • Why does LEEP America use the 90/10 dual language model?
Research shows the 90/10 model is the most effective way to develop bilingualism and biliteracy. In early grades, 90% of instruction is in Spanish and 10% in English, gradually shifting to 50/50 by upper elementary. This approach builds a strong foundation in Spanish first, making it easier to transfer skills to English. Immersive, structured exposure leads to higher academic achievement, stronger literacy, and long-term bilingual success. By learning in a meaningful, natural way, students gain fluency and confidence in both languages, preparing them for a global future.
  • Who should apply to the LEEP America Fellowship?
The LEEP America Fellowships are designed for dedicated educators, school leaders, and district partners who are passionate about advancing educational equity and transforming learning environments. Ideal applicants include individuals committed to supporting dual-language education, driving innovation, and fostering inclusive, community-centered schools. Whether you're a teacher, principal, or district leader, if you're focused on creating lasting change, strengthening leadership capacity, and improving outcomes for students in diverse, bilingual communities, these fellowships are for you. Join us in shaping the future of education through impactful leadership and shared learning.
  • What will I gain from the program?

  • How long is the program?
ACELERA and ALIANZA runs for 12 months and includes a mix of in-person and virtual sessions, mentorship opportunities, and hands-on learning experiences.

Educators return with fresh insights, practical strategies, and a renewed dedication to student success. In turn, your district benefits from stronger leaders, a more engaged workforce, and a collective commitment to building thriving, community-centered schools.
  • What is the time commitment for educators?
Participants engage in structured professional development, mentorship, and collaborative projects over 12 months, balancing learning with their professional responsibilities.
  • How can our district support participants?
Districts can provide critical support to maximize the impact of the program by offering financial assistance, such as covering tuition fees or providing grants. Additionally, allocating protected time for educators to fully engage in the program ensures they can dedicate the necessary focus and effort without distractions from their daily responsibilities. Leadership opportunities, such as taking on mentorship roles or leading specific initiatives within the program, can further enhance the professional growth of participants and help apply their learning directly to the district’s goals. These resources and opportunities allow districts to invest in the long-term success of their educators, ultimately benefiting both the individuals and the school community as a whole.
